Back to School Sales

Each year I get emails or calls from parents who are out shopping for older kids and as they walk by the cases of tissue and rows of school supplies wondered if we could use anything.

To answer the question ... YES, next time you are in Target or Office Depot and see glue bottles for a penny or tissue for runny nose season please pick us up a few ... there are some consumables we can never have too many of!

I have added a box on the blog and encourage you to take a look every once in a while.

Thank you all in advance for your contributions this coming year.

Octopus

Today was the final day of our Under the Sea theme week. We explored and learned about octopus. The kids got the opportunity to have a hands on lesson while touching, looking and smelling one.

A few facts we learned:

All types are venomous

Femails can lay up to 1,000 eggs

They have two rows of suckers on each of their 8 legs

Finally, one fact that Kathy and I thought was interesting ... One arm of a male octopus is, well, special

Cold as Ice Week

Next week is sure to be a fun week but we need your help!

We are asking every family to please bring in some ice. There is no way that Kathy and I can freeze as much as we are going to need. It can be a block of ice, ice cubes, blocks with treasures inside or balloons filled with ice. In years past we have found that the following items work well for creating ice sculptures:

  • Cardboard milk cartons (cut the top off)
  • Zip-Lock bags (laid flat)
  • Plastic storage containers (you can layer items inside by freezing it in layers)
  • Yogurt containers (big and small)
  • Bowls
