Some preschool programs build their curriculum around holidays and others completely ignore them. We don't take either approach but we do like to celebrate! We are just as likely to celebrate Dr Seuss' Birthday as we are Valentines Day.
We also like to honor the traditions of all of the children and families. We believe in the importance of family traditions and holidays as they build a bridge from home to school. Each child's home culture helps ground them in the adults they are to become ... we want them to know that what they do at home is special, important and something to be shared and appreciated.
December is a month full of family traditions, beliefs and special days (no matter what you celebrate or believe). We invite you to share your family traditions, holiday foods (with the recipe so we can share) and any other special items that reflect your heritage or family history. Photographs are also welcome. You are invited to come in or send items in for sharing. Please let us know what you would like to share and when (snack days and the calendar will be arranged accordingly). We already have two moms helping us celebrate / learn about Hanukkah.
Pete Saves Christmas Event
The holidays are coming, and so is Pete the Cat! Copperfield’s Books in Petaluma will be hosting an exciting scavenger hunt to find Pete in over forty local downtown businesses. Prizes will be awarded, and there will be a big shindig at Copperfield’s on Sunday, December 9th!
Jackson and his family did the scavenger hunt and said it was really fun and wanted to share the info with everyone else.
Enjoy!
